Director: Rajkumar Santoshi
Stars: Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon

When Salman Khan is asked whether he has seen the movie Sholay (1975) Aamir Khan jokingly says "Iske baap ne likhi hai" (his father has written it). This is true. Salman Khan's father Salim Khan was one the co-writers of the 1975 block buster Sholay.
The film was in the making for 3 years. Salman Khan's hairstyle keeps changing between scene because he had grown it for a different role in the midst of shooting for this movie.
Shehzad Khan who plays the role of the criminal butler is the son of legendary actor Ajit Khan. Ajit was famous for his villainous roles. Shehzad adopted the mannerisms and voice from his father's character of LION in Kallicharan (1976) for this movie.
The movie performed poorly at the box office upon its release but since then has gathered a cult following.
When Aamir is cutting the ribbon in prison, the song played in the background, "Papa Kehte Hain", is from his earlier hit film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.
Mehmood's character owns a film studio called "Wah Wah Productions". This is a reference to Mehmood's earlier film Pyaar Kiye Jaa (1966) where he plays a person who has his own film productions also called "Wah Wah Productions".
In the film credits, Shakti Kapoor's character name is Thakti. This is because his character Crime Master Gogo cannot say 'S'.
When Aamir Khan and Salman Khan were approached to sign the contract for the movie each of them wanted more screen time than the other, but finally settled on being onscreen for the same amount of time.
Shakti Kapoor's character, Crime Master Gogo is supposedly the nephew of Mogambo, the villain immortalized by Amrish Puri in Mr. India(1987)
The role of crime master gogo was originally offered to Tinu Anand.
The song "Shola Shola Tu Bhadke" could not be fimed because Karishma Kapoor did not have any dates to spare for shooting the song. It was however released on the official soundtrack of the movie
Sunny Deol was originally supposed to make a guest appearance in the film but was later replaced by Govinda.
The scene where Aamir Khan acts as a patient who has lost memory and Salman Khan acts as doctor but brings in carpenters tools and hammer to teach him a lesson is an homage to a scene from Tamil film Thenmazhai (1966) starring Nagesh and Cho Ramasawamy.
The scene where Aamir Khan recreates a football match and spoils the butlers plan to poison Raveena is inspired by the Tamil film Adimai Penn (1969) produced by M.G.Ramachandran where Cho Ramaswamy had a similar scene.
Salman and Aamir did not get along while making this movie. Aamir was upset with Salman constantly showing up late for shooting. Salman was irritated by Aamir insisting on doing a minimum of 35-40 takes for each scene even when the director and producer where willing to move on to a different scene. They have never worked together again. However recently both had a change of heart and have been lobbying the director to write a sequel to this film.
An animated sequel Andaz Naya Naya starring the lead characters of this movie was planned in 2013 but it was shelved.
Legendary actor Mehmood has a cameo in this film. During his struggling days he worked as a driver to P.L.Santoshi, father of director Rajkumar Santoshi.
Famous cricketer Sachin Tendulkar gave the Mahurat shot, being close friends with Aamir Khan.
Andaz Apna Apna didn't have a bound script. Most of the dialogues were improvised by the cast and crew during the shoot of the film.
